two days physiotherapy workshop by the healing hands
The Healing Hands, society of staff and students of Federal Institute of Health Sciences Muzaffarabad Campus organized a two day workshop on “Mobilization of Human Extremities & Spine” from July 7 to July 8, 2018. This was the first of its kind workshop organized in the capital city of Muzaffarabad, meant for the students and professionals associated with the profession of Physiotherapy. Dr. Syed Ali Hussain, senior lecturer Riphah International University, Rawalpindi and an experienced Physiotherapist conducted the workshop spread over two days. Workshop sessions involved some intense theoretical lessons and practical exercises which generated keen interest and active participation by the attendees. Workshop participants included attendees from other educational and health care institutes who were very appreciative of this initiative.
Dr. Bashir Kant, Dean Faculty of Health Sciences, UoAJK was the guest of honour. He congratulated the organizers for arranging such a useful workshop and applauded their efforts for promoting the awareness and knowledge about profession of physiotherapy. He was of the opinion that as it is being practiced internationally, every major health care facility in AJK should have a qualified physiotherapist as part of its team. This is all the more necessary in the context of AJK, where after the earthquake of 2005 and also owing to the particular geographic and economic situation of the area, need for rehabilitation centres and physiotherapy professionals is higher than normal. In an area, where affordability of health care services is a major concern for patients, physiotherapy also presents a cheaper alternative to conventional medicines based treatment without any concerns for the side effects.
Khawaja Anis-ud-din Anwar, Executive Director FIHS, thanked the honourable guest for his presence and encouragement. He reiterated commitment of FIHS in providing quality education to the residents of Muzaffarabad and other areas of AJK.
